National Volunteer Work Day

Helping out your community is a great way to put the joy into someone's and your life. This may also increase your overall health because doing something for someone always improves one's health and mindset.

The best ways you can help serve the community are the following:

Animal Shelters & Non Profits

Finding the nearest Animal Shelter or non-profit. There are a few, like the Humane Society or Pixie Project (in Oregon) that allows dog walking. It's a good way to get the exercise for you and the dog(s). It's also a great way for the animals to become more resilient to the outside world as well as starting to trust other people depending on where they came from.

Also, furry friends are just the cutest and cuddling!

Skilled Nursing & Senior Homes

Another option is checking out Skilled Nursing homes. I've noticed they do allow volunteers to come and help out with those trying to heal and prepare to return to the real world. Helping others in this way is a great way to meet folks with various backgrounds and culture.

I knew one couple where the wife had a PHD in psychology and traveled a lot for her work. Their story was awesome as the husband was in the early wars as well as had fantastic life story to tell (they were in their 80's).

Saving the Earth

It's earth month, and therefore, volunteering to pick up the trash in places like beaches and side roads is anther way. You'll get the exercise, also meet people from all kinds of life, and getting rid of the world of trash.

Other ways in saving the world is learning how to properly dispose of garbage such as electronics, batteries, and other disposals that shouldn't be tossing in the garbage so carelessly and destroying the world little by little.
